Role Profile:

The GOS Global Technology Service group, is a team of dedicated IT consultants, project managers and business analysts that support our client technology solutions through best-in-class software systems utilizing a service delivery model to deliver value within a clear, consistent and measurable framework. Additionally, we provide assessment, technology roadmap, transition and integration services as well as a continuous improvement-based support model to ensure an ongoing technology investment for the duration of our client relationships.

In support of Global Occupier Services, our team also provides business development support including solution definition, pricing, technology demonstration and delivery for Strategy and Portfolio Administration Services, Transaction & Project Management Transaction, Facilities (IFM), Space & Occupancy, and Financial Management.

Core Responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced Database Developer to help build and improve a global BI platform built primarily on the Microsoft stack in Azure. You will use your analysis, design and coding skills to create, maintain and enhance database objects in Azure SQL Database and you will have an opportunity to contribute to our data ingestion processes using tools such as Azure Data Factory models as part of a structured software development lifecycle. There will also be an element of data analysis and documentation to support the creation of data objects and flows. Ultimately, you will help develop database and ingestion solutions to ensure company information is stored effectively and securely.

1. BAU Data warehouse support – troubleshoot and fix database and data ingestion issues within our BI solution collecting data from various applications for internal and external clients

2. Platform development – create and enhance database and data ingestion as part of planned development projects and activities

3. Transition Management – support the technology components of new client on boarding to include such items as data mapping, SQL development, testing, etc.

4. Client Project Services – carry out technology project related activities to include such items as requirements capture, systems specification, database design, change management routines in Azure SQL Databases and Azure Data Factory

5. Collateral development – in supporting the DW solutions the role includes activities such as documenting the new implementations and changes in the data model to be able to compile for multiple IT and Business standards

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience:

  • At least 4 years solid T-SQL coding experience including recent experience using at least SQL Server 2016, preferably 2017 and Azure SQL Database/Data Warehouse
  • Demonstrable experience developing ELT/ETL processes using at least one industry-standard data ingestion technology ideally Azure Data factory or SQL Server Integration Services
  • Experience designing and developing relational databases with an emphasis on reporting and data warehousing solutions built in the cloud using data lakes and ELT/ETL tools
  • Routine use of source control (Git, SVN, TFS, etc) as part of regular (DB) development activities.
  • Knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling and design, dimensional models, star schemas etc. (although this is not a data modelling role)
  • Experience gathering and analysing system requirements
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving database issues. Debugging, identifying bugs and driving them to closure by working closely with the development team
  • Performance tuning, indexing and optimisation experience
  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in an Agile / Scrum environment ensuring quality deliverable end of each sprint.
  • Good communication skills in creating and maintaining technical documentation
  • Familiarity with test management (UAT, unit testing, system integration testing and release to live processes)
  • Fluent English

Nice to have

  • Database development accelerators such as SSDT, Red-Gate tools (SQL Change Automation, SQL Source Control etc.), Migrations frameworks such as Liquibase, Flyway etc.
  • Test-driven database development using tSQLt, MS SQL Test, DbFit or other testing framework
  • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations / Software Development Lifecycle Management (SDLC)
  • Involvement with SQL community activities or news groups
  • An understanding of software engineering principles, particularly the database lifecycle management (DLM) process e.g. version-controlled releases; branching & merging; partially or fully automated release builds, continuous integration/delivery etc.
  • Python knowledge
