Job description

Our international partner has a significant role in the financial sector all over the world and they are currently expanding their BI&BD team in Budapest.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a Senior Big Data Engineer you will be closely working with IT architects and business customers to elicit requirements, to optimize the system performance as well as to advance its technological foundation.
  • Identify new components, functions and features and drive from exploration to implementation
  • Create run books for troubleshooting, cluster recovery and routine cluster maintenance
  • Design, configure and manage the strategy and execution for backup and disaster recovery of big data
  • 3rd-Level-Support (DevOps) for business-critical applications and use cases
  • Evaluate and propose new tools and technologies to meet the needs of the global organization
  • Work closely with infrastructure, network, database, application, business intelligence and data science units
Requirements

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field
  • Strong Scala background, accumulating at least 3 years of experience in an enterprise environment
  • High level knowledge of core Java
  • Extensive knowledge in Java enterprise or related technologies (Java EE, Spring)
  • Practical experience in software integration into an Enterprise environment
  • Basic experience in database development (relational or NoSQL)
  • Proven knowledge in Big Data technologies (Spark)
  • Experience with Linux environments and shell scripting
  • Self-driven with an ability to work closely with business analysts and development team to work towards quality product
  • Demonstrated experience with software development life cycle methodologies, including agile
  • Analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently, but has experience working in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal, oral, and written
  • Strong aptitude and desire to learn new technologies and tools
  • Advanced English is a must
  • BI development experience is a plus
  • Insurance industry experience is a plus
